The City of Westerville offers the charm of a small community with a dynamic environment for local businesses to grow. In the 1800s, Westerville, OH was known as the “Dry capital of the world” for its role in the Temperance Movement. It even became the headquarters of the Anti-Saloon League. Today, Westerville is a growing community with excellent schools, good health care, and year-round recreational activities. There are more than a dozen golf courses, three local swimming pools, youth football and soccer leagues and an outdoor skating rink.

There is a museum in the Westerville public library detailing the history of the town. Another historic place is the Hanby House, which was residence of composer Benjamin Hanby, and a site on the National Underground Railroad. Westerville’s historic district, impeccably restored, shows the residents’ pride in preserving their past.  Residents shop at the historic uptown shopping district with more than 31 one-of-a-kind shops and restaurants.

This northeast suburb of Columbus is one of the better areas for appreciation and community activities, with two reservoirs nearby for boating and recreational activities. Westerville is proud of its focus on education, its low crime rate and high safety standards, its dynamic commercial trade, and its strong sense of community.

Approximately 60% of Westerville High School graduates go on to post-secondary schooling and the award-winning School-to-Work and Tech Prep programs build strong ties between education and the community.
