The small college town of Delaware, OH has been the county seat of Delaware County for nearly 200 years. Delaware County is among one of the fastest growing, most educated, and wealthiest counties in the country. Despite the city’s growth as many families and businesses find a home here, Delaware maintains a small-town atmosphere with historic character. It is the birthplace of the 19th president of The United States, Rutherford B. Hayes, and its daily newspaper, the Delaware Gazette, is the oldest family-owned newspaper in the country.

Delaware offers plenty of recreational activities for residents and visitors. Five miles north of town is the 7,000-acre Delaware State Park offering fishing, boating, and swimming. Neighboring the State Park is a 4,670-acre wildlife area and Alum Creek State Park and Alum Creek Lake are in close proximity. Bike paths, golf courses, and athletic leagues can be found in Delaware along with classes in dance, painting, and crafts and the Delaware County Cultural Arts Centers.
